This is an inroduction to the vaccines offered at the 6 week visit, all parents have the right to make an informed decision and the only way to do so is to have a thorough understanding of the products that are to be injected.
There are 3 vaccines given at the 6 week check up;
1- The 6 in 1 DTaP/IPV/HIB/Hep B (diphtheria, tetanus, acellular petussis, inactivated polio, heamophillus influenza B, hepatitis b)
2- The pneumococcal
3- The rotavirus
1- DTaP/IPV/HIB/Hep B
Hexaxim and Infanrix hexa are the two 6 in 1 vaccines currently offered at this age. Both contain aluminium adjuvants which is of great concern. Aluminium adjuvants have not undergone satisfactory safety studies and there are many scientists that are speaking out.
