Adverse Event Following Immunisation

ADVERSE EVENTS WHICH SHOULD BE REPORTED
Local Reactions
All cases of BCG lymphadenitis
All injection site abscesses
Severe local reactions with swelling further than 5 cm from injection
site, or pain, redness and swelling of more than 3 days duration
Systemic and Severe Reactions
All cases of hospitalisation thought to be related to immunisation
Collapse or shock-like state within 48 hours of DTaP-IPV//Hib
Anaphylaxis
Encephalopathy within 7 days of DTaP-IPV//Hib
Fever of 39ºC or more within 48 hours of DTaP-IPV//Hib
Seizures within 3 days of DTaP-IPV//Hib
All deaths thought to be related to Immunisation
Vaccine Associated Paralytic Polio (VAPP), which is paralysis within 30 to 40 days of oral polio vaccine.
