Signs and Symptoms
Measles, also known as Rubeola, is a viral infection that is spread via droplet formation through the air. It is a highly communicable disease and spreads easily through communities in a cyclical fashion.
Symptoms appear around14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include:
-
koplik spots ( appear before other symptoms and may dissappear before the onset of the following symptoms)
-
Maculo papular rash that starts as red splotchy and as the days pass the rash may go darker and appear to join.
The widespread skin rash is a classic sign of measles. This rash can last up to seven days and generally appears within the first three to five days of exposure to the virus.
A measles rash, which appears as red, itchy bumps, commonly develops on the head and slowly spreads to other parts of the body.
